Today!

Today. Where do I start.  It ended with me getting in my car and reading a testimonial, after all the wonderful things that have happened in my life today this was the straw that helped all the emotions flood through me.  What I do, what I am allowed by many couples to help them through is my joy!

This morning at 2:00am I cam home from a beautiful birth.  A birth that was not put off from happening - mom could have not pushed for 20min and baby would have been born on the 12th instead of the 11th of September but didn't because yesterday needed the miracle of peace and birth.  It needed this birth to make our world the hopeful and beautiful place it is.  I was there.  I did my part.  Came home rested for a few hours.

Went to the gym, to make sure I am strong and ready for my next birth, for my family and for my health.

Spent time with my adorable daughter. Met a friend. Worked.

Then I talked to a potential client. Meat with 5 more. Meat with one more. Meat with one more. And was so happy.  Happy that mom's and dad's were letting me talk to them about the future, about birth, about life, about peace and about love and respect.  Peace is what all of this is.  I walk to my car.  I get in get an email- read it.  I start crying.  Why?  Because I am the luckies person on earth.  My life has a purpose.  I have a beautiful family and I help others as they build onto their own.  I make a difference, that humbles me to the core.  It is the hardest job in the world being a mom, a doula and a wife but the best life ever.

I am touched.  I am touched. I am hopeful and happy.

Thank you to my family for allowing me to be a doula- to help moms, dads and siblings be who they are!!

My heart exploded in the car.  I realized there was a reason I never got that job as an Architect it is because I would not have been fulfilled- now my heart is a firework of happiness and joy!

Emotional. Hopeful. Peaceful. Humbled. Loved.

I am a drug!

Today I talked to a couple who told me this:
Dr. John Kennell, who has studied the impact doulas have on mothers, babies, and childbirth, says, “If a Doula were a drug, it would be malpractice not to use it”.

I truly LOVE what I do!!

Waves

Birth comes in waves.  When it rains it pours is so true.  Even though doulas try to space out their births it seems that for me they always end up coming whenever they want anyway.  So I have mine in couples or triples at one week intervals.  There is always a calm- then a birth (which I am so ready for right now), then a week off and then another birth!  I love this pattern.  I am so excited and ready for the next round of babies.
